The 2022 American Control Conference will be held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta. The conference room rate at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis for single/double occupancy is $175 per night. This rate will extend three days before and three days after the ACC, subject to the availability of rooms at the time of reservation to accommodate those who wish to extend their travel. The conference rate will be available until May 18, 2022 at 5pm on a first-come basis until the block of rooms is sold out. Please make your reservations early. Rate does not include taxes, fees, and assessments.

Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, the busiest airport in the world and recently recognized as the most efficient, has nonstop service to 150 domestic and 70 international destinations. Once you arrive, you can take the MARTA rail line directly from the airport to the Peachtree Center Station, which is connected to the Marriott Marquis via indoor Skybridges during opening hours of the Peachtree Center retail spaces (generally till 7pm). There are two indoor paths to the Marriott, one is direct and one is through the Hyatt.  The Marriott is also accessible from the MARTA station by going outside, it is a short walk.

Atlanta is a major destination for convention and tourist travel and boasts an abundance of restaurants, family-friendly attractions, parks, and nightlife options. Lonely Planet ranks Atlanta in its top ten cities to visit in 2022, the only US city to make that list! And the National Geographic lists Atlanta in its top five “Best of the World 2022” list for culture. There are a number of trendy neighborhoods that boast food and entertainment, such as Midtown Atlanta. Atlanta played a pivotal role in the Civil Rights Movement. For more information, explore the Civil Rights Legacy online and visit one of the local sites such as the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, which is a few blocks walk from the conference hotel. Of special note for those seeking quick lunch options during the conference, there are two food courts in the broader complex that contains the hotel, one in the Peachtree Center Station and one in the Truist Plaza. Both are available by taking the indoor Skybridges, one towards the Hyatt and one towards the MARTA. A short ride away are the historic Ponce City Market and the Kroc City Market food halls and retail centers. A number of restaurants are in the area surrounding the hotel.

Participants arriving early on Tuesday may visit Georgia Tech for a special tour of the campus and control and robotics research labs, commencing at 2:00PM on campus. Tour is full.

Child Care

For information purposes only, not as a recommendation or endorsement from ACC or AACC, the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau website lists two suppliers of child care for meetings and events, including contact information. One of these listed suppliers, Elegant Event Sitters, provides hotel room service for traveling families that can be contracted directly by parents. It is the responsibility of parents to choose their own providers.

Dependent Care Reimbursements

The American Automatic Control Council (AACC) is offering funds to partially offset the expense of dependent care for registrants at American Control Conference (ACC) 2022. Limited funds are available, which will be allocated not to exceed $300 and the available funding. Highest priority will be given to conference registrants who will be presenting a paper, workshop, or special session.

Examples of allowable and non-allowable expenses:

  • Services provided by dependent-care providers for children or other dependents incurred specifically due to conference participation are allowable.
  • Travel expenses for the dependent or for the care giver are not allowable.
  • Meals or entertainment for the dependent are not allowable.
  • Normal, on-going dependent-care services are not allowable.

The deadline to apply for pre-approval of the reimbursement is May 20, 2022, and the awards will be announced by June 1, 2022.

Reimbursement procedure:

Reimbursement will be distributed after the conference. Requesters of these funds must submit the reimbursement request form after the conference and by August 1, 2022 to verify expenses.   Distributions will be made first to recipients who have been pre-approved for the reimbursement, and any remaining funds will be then distributed to other conference registrants who have applied.

Covid-19 Precautions

We will be following the current CDC recommendations for Covid for Fulton County, GA.  The status, checked on May 16, 2022, of risk for Fulton County is “Low”, as determined by the CDC COVID-19 County Check found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html. ACC 2022 will enforce the corresponding CDC recommendations for the status.  Prior to receiving your badge, you must provide proof of being fully up-to-date with your vaccinations by showing a vaccination card or a photo of it.  If you have not received a booster shot, then please provide documentation or explanation of how you are up-to-date on Covid vaccinations using the CDC guidelines given here. We will accept a negative Covid test dated within 48 hours of the check-in time as well. You may choose to wear a mask at any time and should wear a mask if you have symptoms or have been exposed to someone with Covid.  If you have Covid, please do not attend the conference activities.  This status will be checked again May 27.
